Is there an easy way to ship freight to Canada?
Yes, simply fill out our Rapid Clear form. This form replaces the three individual forms (the Bill of Lading, Canada Customs Invoice and the Certificate of Orgin) involved in cross-border shipping.

What is the fastest way to ship freight to Canada?
Indicate your preference for PARS (Pre-Arrival Review System) Clearance when completing the Rapid Clear Form. With PARS, your paperwork is sent to a Canadian customs broker several hours before the freight arrives at the U.S./Canadian border. If the proper paperwork has been transmitted and clearance obtained, the freight is checked through and allowed to continue on to the consignee with minimal delays.

Do I need to arrange for a broker?
Yes; however, the Canadian consignee will typically select the broker.

What happens if I do not use the PARS system?
If shipments do not clear customs through the PARS system, they are routed to a storage facility called an inland sufferance warehouse. These shipments are charged a bonding fee and typically experience transit delays and other handling fees until cleared inland through Canadian customs. Fees are typically paid by the consignee; however, if the consignee refuses, the shipper is liable.

How do I ensure shipments move via PARS?
Submitting complete and accurate paperwork to the correct customs broker is critical in order for PARS to work. The Rapid Clear Form makes it easy. Simply indicate your request for PARS Clearance and complete the form. Be sure to make a copy to use as a Bill of Lading because Canada Customs requires the original.
